OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Janesville Toastmasters

     "The mission of our Club, and indeed any Toastmasters Club, is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self confidence and personal growth."
      That being said, we have learned throughout our 45+ years that learning is best achieved in an environment of controlled relaxation, splashed with humor. By controlled relaxation we do not mean non-structured, nor non-controlled. That is why our Club has reprinted the Toastmaster's Promise, a set of promises found on every application form, whereby we 'expand' on the goals of the Mission Statement, in a setting conducive to learning .

A TOASTMASTER'S PROMISE

As a member of Toastmasters International and my Club, I promise…..

  • To attend Club meetings regularly:
  • To prepare all my speeches to the best of my ability, basing them on projects in the Communication and Leadership Program manual or the Advanced Communication and Leadership Program manuals;
  • To prepare for and fulfill meeting assignments;
  • To provide fellow members with helpful, constructive evaluations;
  • To help the Club maintain the positive, friendly environment necessary for all members to learn and grow;
  • To serve my Club as an officer when called upon to do so;
  • To treat my fellow Club members and our guests with "respect and courtesy";
  • To bring guests to Club meetings so they can see the benefits that Toastmaster membership offers;
  • To adhere to the guidelines and rules for all Toastmaster educational and recognition programs;
  • To maintain honest and highly ethical standards during the conduct of all Toastmaster activities.
     Unfortunately, once in a great while, it becomes necessary to remove a disruptive member
from our Club, that proves to provide a negative atmosphere for those wishing to learn and grow.
     That is why our Club insists on a  member signing and dating the
PLEDGE TO ABIDE.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

     Consistent with my desire to take personal responsibility for my conduct, I will behave in a
professional manner, both individually and as a member of a Toastmaster's Club. I pledge to abide by the principles contained in "A Toastmaster's Promise", and the governing documents and policies of Toastmaster's International and Club 1983.
     I agree that my failure to abide by these principles can result in my termination from
Janesville Toastmaster Club 1983.
